It was an honor and a delight to interview Ruby Rees at Miss Fisher Con 2018. Ruby, who plays Phryne’s adopted daughter Jane, proved to be a wealth of information and insight into the show, her role, and what it was like to work with her fellow Miss Fisher cast members.
She also discussed other projects, like the recent Picnic at Hanging Rock (available here on Amazon Prime Video) and her debut feature film called “Women By the Sea,” for which she is currently seeking funding. It is set to the be the first Australian film to feature an entirely female-identifying cast AND crew! For more information and to support the project, go to the Indigogo page. You can also follow her on Instagram at @rubes_rees.
Ruby delivered one of our favorite quotes from the Con: “I think anyone that reads a lot can do ANYTHING,” and left us with a beautiful and inspiring toast to the Phryne in all of us. Cheers to you, Ruby!
Special thanks to the Adventuresses’ Club of the Americas for coordinating the interview.
Also, the Miss Fisher Philes have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help us take the podcast to Australia later this year. If you enjoy this podcast and are so inclined, we would love your support!
